An angry fan's thoughts and comments on the most recent happenings in the world of baseball and the path and progress of the game's top prospects. Bill James would certainly love this site as would the fantasy baseball crew at SABR, Baseball Prospectus and the Baseball Hall of Fame.

He insisted that Mattingly doesn't want the Yankee's managerial job even though he insists that he never said that he didn't want it.

And while Mattingly would naturally be uncomfortable snatching Joe Torre's job - he also insisted that the reports that Mattingly would be uncomfortable are completely false.

He concluded the session with a shout-out to Hall of Fame voters and touted Donnie Baseball's HOF credentials. It was totally weird and confusing.

In an unrelated story ARod told reporters that he learned a lot playing with future Hall of Famer Roger Clemens.

Rodriguez was particularly impressed with Clemens' ability to demand sickening and ridiculous amounts of money from the Yankees despite the fact that he is already filthy rich.

ARod claimed to be "awestruck" and hinted that if he hadn't already sold his soul to Scott Boras he would certainly have considered approaching Clemens' team for some career advice and possible representation.

While the Rockies are the first team since the 1976 Reds to start the playoffs with a 10-0 record, there are few that believe the Rockies will be able to live up to Hurdle's lofty expectations.

Responding to Hurdle's comments, analysts at SABR have argued that it is statistically more likely that the Rockies will never advance to the World Series again.

SABR geeks did note that Hurdle had probably assembled the most successful pitching staff with players having either "F" and / or "J" as their initials - Jeff Francis, Ubaldo Jimenez, Franklin Morales, Josh Fogg, Brian Fuentes, and Jeremy Affeldt.

They have up to 10 days after the World Series to make this decision.

It is believed that Rodriguez wants a new deal worth $300 million and a different area code than Derek Jeter. Boras is insisting that a golden cape embroidered with the slogan "I am an Agent-God" be part of any deal involving Rodriguez.

Despite his personal achievements, Alex Rodriguez has been criticized for his negative impact on team play and performance. He is hoping that a new and bigger contract will help change this perception.

Alex took the Yankee's defeat to the Indians particularly hard. It was reported on the FAN 590 in Toronto, that after the final game of the ALDS he drove home alone in his 2008 Ferrari to his hilltop mansion made of gold and wept uncontrollably into tissues made of money.

Though the comparison of Japanese players to their Major League counterparts has been far from accurate in the past, Fukudome has been compared as a player to somewhere between Hideki Matsui and JD Drew.

Chamberlain could have been a nice replacement at closer if Mariano Rivera leaves as a free agent but he has always been awesome as a starter.

Stay tuned - remember J. Papelbon was supposed to move to the Red Sox rotation last year until they realized that they still needed a closer.

The miracle worker just couldn't turn water into wine as quickly as he needed to.

Notwithstanding the emergence of Eric Bedard and Jeremy Guthrie under his tutelage, he was let go by the Baltimore Orioles this week.

The Baltimore brass were just not satisfied with the progress of Daniel Cabrera and Adam Loewen. It didn't occur to them that Cabrera and Loewen may just stink.

Mazzone should have no trouble finding employment.

He had a combined 12-8 record with a 4.39 ERA. He did reach Triple-A by the end of the season however and he is only 21 years old !!!!

For 2007, Lofgren was rated the No. 15 prospect in the Double-A Eastern League. He has a plus fastball and he is thought to be one of the top five lefthanders in the minor leagues.

Lofgren attended the same high school as Barry Bonds.

It is likely Chuck Lofgren will start 2008 in the minors but it would not be a complete suprise to see him in Cleveland's rotation by the end of the season.
